When you think of Austin photo sessions, a few spots always pop up: Zilker Park, Mount Bonnell, the 360 Overlook. And while they’re undeniably beautiful, they’ve also been photographed a million times.

If you want images that feel fresh, unique, and truly yours, it’s time to look beyond the usual suspects. Here are some of my favorite Austin (and nearby) photo locations that aren’t overdone — places with character, charm, and plenty of room for creativity.

🌿 St. Edwards Park

If you’re dreaming of a nature-filled backdrop without driving hours outside the city, St. Edwards Park is a hidden gem. Think winding hiking trails, a peaceful creek, wildflower-filled meadows, and the kind of golden light that makes everything glow. It’s perfect for couples who love adventure or families who want candid moments splashing in the water.

🎨 Laguna Gloria

Laguna Gloria feels like stepping into an Italian garden… but you’re still in Austin! With lush landscaping, gorgeous architecture, and a touch of old-world romance, this spot is perfect for engagement sessions or bridal portraits. Bonus: it’s never too crowded if you time your session right, and the art installations add a fun, modern twist.

🦚 Mayfield Park

Mayfield Park is a whimsical oasis filled with tropical plants, koi ponds, and—yes—peacocks that roam freely. The mix of vibrant greenery, historic cottages, and those curious birds makes every session feel magical. It’s especially stunning in spring when the flowers are in full bloom.

🍸 Deep Eddy Cabaret

For a completely different vibe, Deep Eddy Cabaret brings Austin’s quirky, dive-bar charm to your photos. Neon signs, cozy booths, and a lived-in atmosphere give your session an edgy, retro feel. It’s perfect for couples who want their photos to feel less “posed” and more like a fun date night.

🏞 Reimers Ranch (Outside Austin)

Just a short drive from the city, Reimers Ranch offers sprawling limestone cliffs, crystal-clear river views, and wide-open Texas skies. This spot is amazing for adventurous couples, rock climbers, or anyone who loves a dramatic natural backdrop.

💧 Pedernales Falls State Park (Outside Austin)

Pedernales Falls is all about the drama—water rushing over giant rock slabs, serene pools, and plenty of open space. Whether we’re wading in the shallows or perched on the rocks for that epic landscape shot, this park delivers a “wow” factor every time.

Why I Love These Spots

Each of these locations gives you something different—lush greenery, artistic charm, Texas-sized landscapes, or quirky indoor vibes. They’re perfect for couples and families who want photos that feel authentic, not staged in the same old tourist spots.

If you’re ready to create images that stand out and truly reflect your personality, let’s plan your session at one of these hidden gems (or a place that’s special to you!).
